Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to vaccination against COVID-19

Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to vaccination against COVID-19. None of the coronavirus vaccines contain live virus particles, so they do not pose a threat to the mother and baby.
The World Health Organization advises breastfeeding women to be vaccinated against coronavirus disease. These recommendations are supported by health regulators in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries. In Ukraine, the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis (NTGEI) notes that women who breastfeed their children can be vaccinated against COVID-19 without reservations unless otherwise specified in the vaccine instructions.
Comirnaty vaccine manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech or AstraZeneca can be used for vaccination. According to the current instructions for the CoronaVac vaccine from Sinovac Biotech, breastfeeding is a contraindication for the use of this vaccine.
It is not necessary to stop breastfeeding the infant because of vaccination.
Vaccines cannot get into breast milk, but antibodies that can potentially protect the baby from the disease get there. This is evidenced by recent studies - bit.ly/CDC_Ig_milk. However, these data are not yet sufficient to determine what kind of protection these antibodies can provide to the child.
