Life after COVID-19

It is quite difficult for many people to return to normal life after suffering from COVID-19. Although most people get sick in a fairly mild form, this does not mean that you will be able to avoid a complicated course of the disease. After all, it is impossible to know in advance how a particular person will suffer from the disease.

At the same time, even those who have had a mild or asymptomatic coronavirus disease may experience the so-called "post-covid syndrome" or "long COVID-19".

▪️ What is post-covid?

Signs and symptoms that occur after coronavirus disease cannot be explained by any diagnosis. This condition can last from 5 to 12 weeks or longer.

British studies indicate that in one in five people who test positive, the post-covid syndrome can last for 5 weeks, and in one in ten - for 12 weeks

▪️ What is it characterized by?

✔️ Prolonged recovery after COVID-19 infection.

✔️  Various clinical manifestations (https://bit.ly/3wUnL1y): weakness, exhaustion, prolonged cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell, sleep and consciousness disturbances, anxiety, depression, headache, joint syndrome, hair loss, endocrine disorders, etc. Currently, there is no exhaustive list of symptoms and conditions characteristic of the post-covid syndrome. Their range is wide and is constantly updated and supplemented.

▪️ How to recover from COVID-19?

✅ There is currently no instruction or recipe for quick recovery. Especially if we take into account the different courses of the disease and the individual characteristics of each patient.

✅ Among the tips that the professional community gives to patients who have suffered from COVID-19 are adherence to sleep and a balanced diet, moderate physical activity, exercises to train the brain and cognitive abilities, and walks in the fresh air.

✅It is also worth paying attention to the treatment of chronic diseases if any. It is worth consulting your family doctor about your condition. Do not hesitate to share your concerns or discuss the complaints and symptoms you have experienced after contracting COVID-19.

Vaccination is the only way to reduce the risks of being hospitalized and losing your health, or even life, as a result of COVID-19. The list and contacts of vaccination centers and points can be found at https://vaccination.covid19.gov.ua/list or by calling 0 800 60 20 19.
